Once the device is correctly installed and wired, to connect to the Long-Range controller you may need to make sure that the device you are using to access the controller is on the same network as the controller.
By default, all the controllers bring the following configuration:
- DHCP network mode.
- Default IP address (if it is not modified by the host) on the 192.168.133.XXX range. This means that not all the devices use the same default IP address, in order to allow the connection and addressing of multiple devices at the same time at once.
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
To determine the exact controller IP address it is useful to use the ProtoPixel Mapping Tool software once your device is on the same network as the controller. You could use the following network configuration:
- Manual mode.
- IP: 192.168.133.55 (Note that if the Long-Range (by chance) is on the same address, you may need to try with another number than 55 on the last digits)
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
If you run the Mapping Tool in your computer and add a controller, you will be able to locate all the controllers on your network by its MAC address. From there, it is possible to access the “Devices” window (on the Mapping Tool “Windows” tab) to access the web interface of the controller.
There are two ways of connecting to the configuration page of the Long-Range controllers.
- From the Mapping Tool:
- Connect the controller to your Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector or PoE switch to get the device running.
- Make sure that you have an up and running IP network between the controller and your computer.
- Open the “Devices” tab in the Mapping Tool software.
- All Long-Range controllers may appear there and you will be able to access its configuration page by clicking on them.
- From a Node:
- Connect the controller to your Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector or PoE switch to get the device running.
- Make sure that there is an up and running Ethernet IP network between the controller, the node, and your computer.
- Open the “Devices” tab in the web interface of the Node.
- All Long-Range controllers may appear there and you will be able to access its configuration page by clicking on them.
