To use a Shelly Wireless Digital Input in your system, it's important to understand that there are two different scenarios depending on your setup. If you're working with a wireless-only installation created directly from the Protopixel App, both the pairing process and all configuration steps, including creating, editing, or deleting behaviours, are done entirely within the app. However, if your installation includes a Protopixel Brain, you will still use the app to add the device, but any configuration of behaviours will need to be done from the Project Tool.
To begin, make sure you're using the latest version of the Protopixel App (25.7 or higher) to ensure compatibility with Shelly Wireless Digital Input devices. You can download it here for Android devices or here for iOS.
Once inside the app, open the installation where you'd like to add the Shelly Wireless Digital Input. Navigate to "Manage" in the menu.
Within the "Manage Installation" screen, tap "Manage" again followed by the "+" button.
This will open the "Pairing Assistant", where you'll be able to select the device you want to pair and choose whether you want to configure it as a button or as a switch.
After completing the pairing, the new elements will automatically appear in your installation. When you tap "Go to Installation", you'll return to the main screen where you’ll see the added elements reflected both in the ProtoPixel App and in the Project Tool (if using a Brain).
From here, you're ready to start adding Behaviours to the new device.
⚠️ Keep in mind that when a Shelly Wireless Digital Input has four inputs, the app will treat it as four independent elements. For example, adding three devices with four inputs each will reach the maximum number of elements a Wireless installation can handle. ⚠️
👆🏻 If you're going to add multiple Shelly Wireless Digital Inputs to the same installation, it's recommended to connect them one at a time to avoid confusion during pairing. 👆🏻
